it does seem to be embarrassment over the white skin with the no shorts thing. But once you become an Aussie you don't have much choice - too hot here not to wear shorts and my hubby has that Gorgeous English skin that when white has that soft pink blush to it but can tan to a beautiful olive. Huh he passed on the tanning ability to our son and my daughter has the 'English'rose blush that my Welsh grandmother had. Sad I didn't inherit it...
