With a new director, new cast members, and a whole new artistic vision, New Moon promises to be a more mature and emotionally fraught film than Twilight. Fear Net chatted yesterday with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the stars of the hotly anticipated vampire romance, as well as Chris Weitz, the second director in the Twilight Saga. Learn what they told us after the jump.
On preparing for New Moon:
Pattinson: ...as soon as I finished Twilight I knew what I had to do and I knew I had a lot of work to do. I mean, gaining 30 pounds. I stayed focused and it all worked out well.(Gozde:Okay, I missed all comic con but Rob gained 30 pounds? It's Taycob that gained the weight no? And if Rob did gain 30 pounds where did they go, in his beanie? :))
On the fans at Comic-Con:
Stewart: I knew what to expect going into this so I was much less surprised. When I show up at these places I'm always sort of blown away. In this case I was ready for it. I think I was overcompensating. I was really tired.
Pattinson: We've seen just about everything there is to see with these fans during the past year, so we expect anything. And it was just awesome to be with them again and show them the two clips.
On the film's romance:
Stewart: The [romance was probably] the only thing that could bring this girl out of the deep. I mean, it's much more heightened depression. In this movie you don't get sad, it's like you die.
On the third film, Eclipse:
Stewart: But it's kind of nice because we are playing the same characters and building on them and digging deeper into their lairs.
On what was learned from the previous movie:
Weitz: For one thing, I have a wonderful cast, which is really the main appeal to me. Because when I was offered the film I hadn't read the books yet, and once I did I saw that there was this kind of deep current of longing and romance to it. I inherited a huge fan base, which is incredible for a director, because you know people are going to come and see your movie. That's the whole thing you worry about when you're trying to make a film, because it's so, so expensive and you work so hard and you make other people work so hard. So knowing that people are going to come and see it is tremendously refreshing.
On changes to the first film's vampire makeup:
Weitz: There's more consistency between shots, to be cold-blooded about it. (Gozde: LMAO, you mean his ears aren't red while his face is white in this movie? That's gonna be hard to get used to :P)) The whole thing has a different kind of look because this is a whole new breed of vampires altogether. The diamond skin we're remaking – it's gonna be groovy.
You can read more from Chris Weitz here at Fear.net.
P.S.: I am not entirely convinced this interview was done with Rob. Sounds like Taycob to me.

Goz you are hilious – I thought of that exact comment, while I was reading what Chris said !! Dido your comment lol lol
I'm loving Chris Weitz!!
I wonder, did they mix up Taylor with Rob? Because it sure as hell sounds like Taylor talking.
Plus we heard Kristen and Taylor did press together (after the panel) while Rob was hanging around...
I say it again - Looove Chris W.! (Please Mr. Weitz, please would you do me a favour and also direct BD?)
I second that Pet73 - Chris to direct BD !!!
Can't wait can't wait CAN'T WAIT to see this - ugh - is it November YET?! I need to see the new & improved sparkle motion already. & I agree with everyone else that CW is brilliant (like Gozde...and Edward in the sun...).
: )
hehehe "It's gonna be groovy."
I think I have a crush on Chris Weitz. He's so quiet and yet he's funny. Odd, what I'm attracted to. Don't get me wrong, I'm still marrying Rob though. lol
AHHHH its not November yet!! the wait is killing me 2. Yes I'm wishing my time away ... come on' already BRING ON NOVEMBER!!
I love CW's humor, he made me laugh at comic-con.
I really think they're wrong, it's NOT rob who said these statements:
first:rob wasn't suppose to do any backstage inerview in comicon
Two: Gozde is right about the weight
Three: I am sorry rob is always gracious with his fans but he would never, NEVER say:"it's AWESOME to be with them (the fans)" not Roblike at all!! It's more Taylorlike: he's always praising the fans...
oh and this comicon disappointed me on one major thing, the most important thing: that we didn't get that much of Rob: the screaming fans not letting him speak!!the panelist didn't ask him to answer all the questions targeted at all the cast, but only few!!Plus Kristen being silly while Rob was speaking in an interview, and I wanted to hear what he wanted to say but he stopped! and finally, eventhough I saw Rob smiling, I felt there was something wrong, he didn't seem in a great mood....maybe he's still on Tyler-mode? I realised I was really missing seing him on interviews and not on a stolen-moment-paparazzi picture
I truly miss me some Robert Pattinson
love
I love Chris W. sense of humor and sadly, he's much more my age than Rob is :(.
Riddle- Maybe Rob wasn't asked to answer all the "cast questions" because of the overall plan to promote Taylor more?
I got the impression, that Rob took himself back intentionally (at some time I thought he would disappear under the table :p) to get the focus more on Taylor.
Pet73
totally agree with you, I think so too but, man!we need our rob, and does that me it's going to be this way all through the New Moon promotion? I respect Taylor Lautner and I'm convinced he's a great guy but god I don't wanna hear him speak about "heading the gym" anymore! did you hear Taylor speaking about how he portraid Jacob emotionnaly? No never! whereas Rob is always speaking about feelings, emotions, restraint, losing something you love...he kills me!!! the character of Jacob goes through many emotions too but Taylor barely mentioned that! I WANT MORE ROB'S INTERVIEWS PEOPLE!!!!
sorry for the mistakes I made in my previous post ^_^
I like Taylor, too, but you are right Riddle, in some way he also should mention the emotional part of his role. (Maybe, as he's only 17, he still has to learn to talk about emotions? - Some men are not capeable of it until they are dead :o)
As we all know (and love) Rob is not the average guy, he reads a lot and seems to be very sensitive, maybe therefore it's not such a problem for him to find the right words about emotional stuff?
BTW, I think we will get a lot of Rob interviews for RM, Summit will certainly do a lot to also promote this movie.
I also can't wait for new Rob (only) interviews. I'm sooo missing them :(!
Ugh, they definitely misattributed the quotes. rob's not the meathead who only seems to talk about how much muscle he's gained, and the "awesome" thing? I can't picture that, either, but it does sound like Taylor.
Is it awful to admit that I hope their all-out effort to promote Taylor fails? It's annoying.
the journalist was there at one point though, how could they swap quotes/actors like that? People want to read stuff about Rob, could they have done that on purpose? It's so obvious it's really silly...
Well Lily, a lot of the teenage girls love Taylor. That's fine with me, let the teens have Taylor and leave Robert for the mature women :p!
hi anna :) hope you're well
I have the same theory as yours...attracting readers by some unfortunate mistake
now I'm off, have a nice day all :)
oh and wanted to add
Pet you cracked me up for "Some men are not capeable of it until they are dead :o)" sooo true!
Just read, that Chris W. confirmed, that Bon Iver will be on the NM soundtrack. Chris as well as someone from the cast is loving him. After listening to Bon Iver on youtube (haven't heard anything before) I'm wondering if it could be Rob, who also likes him?
Lol Goz with the red ears comment! I thought that the whole time I saw Twilight and I'm glad there are others that noticed it too. You never fail to tickle my funny bone bb!
Goz, right on with the ear comment! His little ears were red through the whole Twilight movie-poor baby, was cold!
yea, don't think Rob gained 30# and don't think he said awesome..
Taycob annoys the crap out of me, so I'm ok with the tweens having him..
I thought Rob was happy, lovely and was having a great time with all his mates.
The author must have been to a different ComicCon press conference than the one I saw on the videos posted here the other day. Because it was Taylor saying all those things about gaining weight and the fans, not Rob.
P.S. Thanks, Kate, for doing such a wonderful job while Gözde was away. Hope to read you again.
P.P.S. Welcome back, Gözde!
Hi Phos! How are you?Haven't been here with you at the same time for ages :).
Hi Pet, I'm trying to get things done (like answering emails) but I'm failing miserably. Blame it on Robsessed. ;-)
That wasn't Rob those were quotes from Taylor.
I've fallen in love with Chris Weitz. He get's it. And he's humble. The actors have all said that filming NM has gone so much smoother and calm. I can't wait til November.
I'm pretty sure I heard Taycob say how 'awsome' the fans were in one of the interviews and yes he's definitely gained 30 pounds but certainly not Rob! Much as I dislike Taycob (sorry but I just can't like him) he presents himself very well in these interviews. He says what people want to hear whereas Rob and indeed Kristin say what they feel..making their interviews ..well Rob's anyway so much more interesting.
Watching Rob at Comic-Con I felt like he was being sidelined and I didn't like it. I know it's all about Jacob this time and Summit want to promote him but if that was the case why have Rob there and put him through all that rigmarole. He looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but up on that stage with the other two. I really felt for him. Having said that he seemed a lot more comfortable at the screenings with the rest of the cast so hopefully he had a better time with them...but I want to see interviews with him and him alone. Will Summit promote Remember Me?
