Completely agree on FB. I don't want to be Robsessing on there where my family would find out and never let me hear the end of it.

Meeting/Seeing Rob. I would prolly freeze, and the butterflies would just take me over. I'd most likely try to get close, just to see him up close, but I probably wouldn't be able to do much more then stare and shake, which I readily admit is ridiculous.

Gemgirl65 said...: ah...the Dave Navarro story. It was a loooong time ago, 1994 to be exact, and Dave had just joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers but hadn't recorded anything with them yet. I was a fan of Jane's Addiction, then saw a pic of him all cleaned up and starting to get all HAWT and tatted up at the time...well, I drew a nice portrait of him and wrote him a really cool letter, and I sent them to the Red Hot Chili Peppers fanzine at the time.

Little did I know, Anthony Kiedis' dad ran the fanzine. He liked my portrait so he printed it a full page in the 'zine, along with an excerpt from my letter. I flipped. He also sent me a Dave-autographed copy of my drawing, and a note telling me he forwarded my stuff to Dave. Awhile later, Dave called me on the phone, saying he had read my letter...he was actually sitting there with it, asking me questions about stuff that I'd written. I mean he just started peppering me with questions because he liked what I'd written. Man, it's been so long ago, I don't even remember now, but I'm sure it's written in a journal somewhere!

Anyway, it was very cool. Anthony's dad continued to send me notes and his own personal shapshots of the band, including another autographed one of Dave performing. So yeah...my claim to fame. LOL The moral? You gotta catch 'em before they become super famous...and it helps to impress them with something you've done, like a big ol' portrait. I can't believe I haven't drawn Rob yet...what a subject! I'm pretty rusty these days.

I just got lucky because it had been three years since the last RHCP album, and Dave wasn't that famous because he'd been a freaky little dred-locked heroin addict while in Jane's Addiction. Guitar World did an article on him and he'd cut his hair, started wroking out, grew some facial hair, got a tan...he looked healthy and hot for the first time EVER. I just happened to be one of the first ones who noticed. LOL Like the chick in Spain who followed Rob around until he got so bored/curious that he just gave in. Too late for our Robbie now. We might as well be lusting after Brad Pitt at this point. *sigh*
