There are little things Rob use, like the way he sometimes raise his eyebrows when he says a line that is remarking something; also the posture of his body, he repeated it a little bit in the awkward posture for Daniel and for Art and in some clips of young Dali I´ve seen, that sometimes I find are part of himself when he is being shy.. but in general I find his work to be outstanding for some one who never trained him self in acting; I think that if he keeps choosing the type of characters he ahs done so far, and work with the right people he will achieve excellence in his performances, he has a lot of natural potential...
Too bad I have the feeling that he is already typecast as the twilight kid, and so many people saying tht movie is so bad that they don´t look beyond it to try to find that he did his best with a very poor directing.; June 7, 2009 at 3:52 PM

Now about Kris, I didn't like her earlier because of what she said about the fans. Then her daddy put his two cents in sounding like an snotty ass. Which in turn sounded like it was coming from her. Because it was reported at first that she was going to the Oscars. So it just looked really bad. Her apology was alright but I still wasn't feeling her. Now I have no hate towards her. I like her.

I totally understand that she is who she is and she is not going to change. We all have our quirks about us and were not perfect. Some are the happy-go-lucky types, others are the brooding-complaining-rebel types, and then there are the others who are happily in between. Maybe she will grow out it one day.

I think the fans just need to adjust to how she is and realize that. Not the other way around. You can't make someone be who you want them to be. Their going to be who they are in spite of whatever you say or do. That's what I've learned.

Mechevpao said...: To me Edward Norton is the best!! even behind a mask in Kingdom of Heaven, he was great, and that is an example of an actor who is not afraid to play secondary roles, and his performance is so brilliant that he takes the entire movie with him, I like that Rob accepted to play a role like Phineas in UC, he is going to be secondary in it, but if he uses all the potential the character offers, he is going to take that movie for himself, that is what fine actors do, like Ralph Fiennes too...

Mommamary said...: Nice to hear your thoughts, Shani. But you have to remember that the public is the audience. If she wants an audience, she needs to do what they want to see. If not, she won't have an audience. That is the way it is. The public does not ever adjust and make themselves like an actress. We are busy living our lives and they have chosen a vocation to entertain us. If they don't entertain, they don't get the jobs. That is how it works. That is life. I wish her every success, I really do. I never wish for anyone to fail. I just hope she does something that makes her happy. Life is too short to spend it otherwise. And too many of us do.
Also, I don't think Rob is in danger of being typecast. I think a lot of actors are probably very jealous of him and that won't end b/c, as I am constantly saying, he has IT. But he has made some valuable friends, like Hugh Jackman and that studio-head guy who introduced him in that charity auction in Cannes and he said the other day that Ron Howard asked for a picture at the Oscars, which blew his mind. Now those guys all are heavy Hollywood hitters and he has gotten their attention and their respect already, so he will be able to get some very interesting roles in the future.
The expressions: we all have natural expressions we make and actors just use their own as they interpret their character. Rob uses all those eyebrow and mouth and eye expressions in real life, so it is just him in the character. As it should be.
My favorite cute little thing he does is, raising both hands and one knee and going "ehhh" as if to say, whatever! I think that is so cute.; June 7, 2009 at 4:12 PM

I live in a small town where we can leave our doors unlocked if we want. Our children play outside and we watch over each other. But close enuf to Houston to commute to work, go to theater, symphony, ballet, international festivals, museums, best restaurants in the world. Living expenses are reasonable and we can jump on a plane and fly off to any adventure we want and come right back home to peace and reason. Texas is the best place to be.
