First I want to give a shout out to my peeps in Atlanta and encourage other to phone their local "Art" theatres and request Little Ashes! :) Apparently Midtown Art has been getting an extremely large amount of requests for the movie. Here is what our friend Susan wrote us:
I phoned the Atlanta Landmark Midtown Art Cinema and was told tickets will go one sale 6/1/09. The movie will screen approx. 5 times/day; run for 1 week unless there is enough interest to hold it over longer. Based on the number of calls they've received so far they are expecting packed shows!
YES WE CAN! :)) If you want to see the movie in your area you can use our comments section to decide on which movie theatre y'all want to shower with your phone calls!
Okay onto Larry Carrol's Review from MTV.com:
I’ve gotta say: I’m pretty impressed. As much as we all love to talk about Rob around these parts, the fact is that little is known about his actual acting talents. He was fine in the “Harry Potter” films, and obviously got the job done in “Twilight,” but until an actor has the chance to show off some versatility, it’s hard to speculate on his long-term prospects.
Nevertheless, even the haters have to respect RPattz for taking on such a daring role. Most teen idols would never go anywhere near “Little Ashes,” if only for fear of being taken seriously while wearing a Salvador Dali moustache. Factor in the accent, the fact that it’s a period film, and Dali’s gay romance with poet Federico Garcia Lorca (Javier Beltran), and Rob seems like the kind of brave young actor who is all too rare in Hollywood today.
A quick tale, without naming names: Once upon a time, I wrote a story on a certain teen heartthrob. In the article, I mentioned that the teenager was chain-smoking cigarettes on the set, because I was trying to convey his desire to be taken seriously as a grown-up actor. Within hours of the story going live, I was inundated with phone calls telling me I needed to take the story down or I’d ruin his image.
Due to that, perhaps, I’ve gotta say it’s cool to see a clip that has RPattz unapologetically dangling a cigarette from his mouth. This is a grown-up movie about a grown-up subject, and RPattz’s lack of desire to “manage” his image speaks volumes about how far he might go as an actor.
“Little Ashes” will begin its limited release on May 8th. Personally, I can’t wait to see it.
Source check out Little Ashes Official page to see if there is a screening near you.

Anyone in the OC area want to help me call the Edwards University Town Center in Irvine, CA? Here's the number: (949)854-8818
Wow! That is a really beautiful YouTube segment. Thanks!
We totally need a showing in the Dallas area. I am really surprised they haven't put one here yet!
Yes, I am shocked there isn't anything in the Dallas area. There is more than one art theatre and I just figured it would be showing at somewhere like the Angelika or something. I better get to work calling....
Yeah!!! Am fellow Atl Gal. Was at Landmark last week watching movie and asked about LA playing there. Was told they wouldn't know what movies they were getting until about a week before they are scheduled to show. Was totally prepared to call everyday and request the show it. So happy we have a def. date for LA.
Anyone interested in the Tempe/Phx Arizona area? I know its showing in Tucson, but that is 90 minutes away. I will make the drive, but prefer it to be closer to home!
Touching, I seriously have tears. Love is love.
I've seen a lot of Austinites posting lately... lets try the Alamo Drafthouse for size... I've already called and they said they'd had a few, may just call each day :-)
I'm so excited for this movie. YES WE CAN!!
Robert is daring and very brave in choosing movie roles. That will take him far in Hollywood.
I wonder if he could pull off a serial killer role.
We need Sioux Falls SD, Sioux City IA, Vermillion SD SOMETHING.
Oh and I love the Placebo song with the video. did I see some Salvador/Frederico tongue action?
I will go to Austin to see this. Anywhere in TX where I can take a weekend roadtrip would be great!
I visited Dali`s museum in Figueras and it really took my breath away. It`s a bit ironic that robert who is humble, modest and shy guy took the part of attention seeking, self-centered genius who is fully awaire of his supremacy.
I confirmed with Landmark that LA is coming to Denver June 19th. Better late than never, I guess.
Valerie and Ashley- Hey Dallas is in the house. Welcome newbies....
Yeah ANGELIKA FILM CENTER is my choice as well. I'm looking at the newspaper now. There are two, one in Plano and the other in Dallas.
If anyone wants to help call the one in Dallas @214-841-4700. Plano@972-444-FILM. Remember to put 1 before area codes 214 & 972 if calling long distance.
Please help us here in Dallas and call as many times as you can. We would love to see the movie and show Rob how much we love him as an actor. He really took a huge chance as a young actor playing this epic(if that's the right word to describe it)role of Dali. Dali is not an easy person to portray. Rob had to dig deep emotionally and go into places inside himself that he possibly never knew existed.
So lets call as many theaters as we can around the country. This is our boy and we need to support him....
Shani~I'm on it. I'm calling as soon as I leave work. We need this movie here. I've been telling everyone I know about it because it looks amazing and you can tell that Rob really put his heart and soul into it.
wow...i think larry carroll has a man crush on rob...i love it
he really does always have positive things to say about rob...constantly praising his ability...what great publicity for our boy
Ok. Anyone have any details on Little Ashes showing in Ireland:? I know we had the premiere in Belfast a couple weeks ago but thats a good two hour drive from Dublin, and a two a half hour drive each way for me. I've emailed some nearby cinemas and had no reply.
Any definite news would be much appreciated.
I have been working on getting a showing in Michigan. Looks like it may happen! Getting excited about the idea!
@Divinesally
Are you kidding? He totally slays untold numbers on this site everyday. I'm convinced there's nothing he can't do. Already have our showing here, but there's other places nearby that could do with some Ashes.
@ Divinesally, too: I would LOVE Rob to play a bad guy! I just known he would be freakin awesome :)))
Tina - Isn't it amazing how different Rob is from Dali (looks alone) but he still really captures something of what we imagine Dali being from the glimpses we have of him/his life. I really hope I get to see this movie when it comes to Portland what a treat.
DS- for sure Dali Rob props!!
Diane - nothing he can't do!!
We can all do the happy dance. I told you so, I told you so : )
That was a great review but I always feel a little left out for Javier. He was damn good too! (omg, when he recites the poems *meltsss*)
Btw, on the note of requesting about Little Ashes, is there any way to request a tv interview with Javier(i'm assuming Rob will be too busy filming New Moon but who knows)?
I really really want to see him on The Jonathon Ross Show, but I doubt it will happen. :(
I really like the song in the youtube clip, does anyone know the title of the song? It sounds like (looks like from previous post) it's from Placebo.
Nevermind, found it on Amazon. It looks like the song is "Running Up That Hill (2007 Digital Remaster)" by Placebo
Can people help me get Little Ashes played in my town? It's Bloomington, Indiana and the theatre info is
Kerasotes Bloomington Showplace 12 West
(812)323-0884
I would really appriciate it! I want to see this movie soooo bad!
THANKS in advance!
