'Twilight' Star Robert Pattinson Lands Lead Role In 'Remember Me'
Film tells the story of star-crossed lovers plagued by family tragedy.
By Eric Ditzian
While Robert Pattinson is deep into filming the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" for Summit Entertainment, the studio has tapped the 22-year-old British star for another project about star-crossed lovers.
Pattinson will play the lead role in "Remember Me," a story of a young couple whose burgeoning relationship is complicated by a succession of family tragedies that test their bond, according to ScreenDaily.com. The makers of the film, which had previously been titled "Memoirs," have not yet settled on which actress who will play Pattinson's love interest.
The Robert Pattinson Photo-Biography
Emmy-winning director Allen Coulter ("The Sopranos," "Damages") will direct, and Jenny Lumet, who penned the script for last year's critical darling "Rachel Getting Married," is working on a draft of the screenplay.
After "New Moon" wraps in May, Pattinson will head to New York to shoot "Remember Me," which will finish in time for the actor to begin filming the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse," in August.
Summit is staying tight-lipped about plot specifics, but co-chairman and CEO Patrick Wachsberger likened "Remember Me" to "Love Story," the classic 1970 romance starring Ali MacGraw and Ryan O'Neal.
Landing the "Remember Me" lead marks the first major role for Pattinson since he rocketed to public adulation for his portrayal of vampire Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" franchise. He had been signed to appear alongside Rosario Dawson in "Parts per Billion," but was forced to drop out due to his "New Moon" commitment. Pattinson will next be seen in May's "Little Ashes," the Salvador DalĂ biopic he shot before "Twilight." His "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart has already landed some meaty roles since the vampire series became a big box-office success, including a turn as real-life rocker Joan Jett in "The Runaways."

Cannot wait to see him in anything! Thanks G!
Great News!!!
I guess he wasn't kidding when he says he likes to stay busy..
I wonder who'll they cast opposite?
TESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
OH, NO! I'm scared for Robert.
He should be under the helm of a much better, more experienced director since this is going to be his big "starring" role after Twilight. If this turns out to be a bad movie, don't know what's gonna happen to his career.
Of course, I'm gonna see it no matter what!
Maybe that's what he was up to in LA, auditioning females.
Should be very interesting to see who they cast.
Yum, Yum tragic love story - can't wait.
black comedy - oh yeah
Soundtrack - oh swoon
imdb entry:
Memoirs (2011) (pre-production)
shooting in 2009 for a 2011 release? there's something not right about this movie.
Isabel, don't worry! Allen Coulter is a great director (Hollywoodland, anyone?! I thought it was brilliant!). I haven't seen Rachel Getting Married but apparently it says good things about Jenny Lumet, too. I have faith, the movie's going to be amazing :)))
Sopranos awesome, awesome show - better than most movies, this director is talented. Damages I only saw bits, bits I saw were impressive, especially when Glenn Close breaks down and flips.
He should do dramatic/tragic/heart wrenching very well.
Can't wait to see who they cast as the female lead - should be quite telling to see who they like and who wants to do it.
They just put tentative release dates up until everything is settled I bleive Isabel.
Great news!!!!
I agree Kespax, I can't wait to see who they cast! From what I've read the character is in her late teens/very early twenties. And kind of a tough cookie, in a sweet way.
... Kat Dennings? They were cute together in that photo shoot :)
Of course the issue is that whoever they cast has to be insanely beautiful. Otherwise she'll look like a troll next to Rob.
Some hollywood site is claiming that Mama Mia Seyfried girl, presented with rob at the oscars is up for the part. I hated that awful movie so much, but I did like her, & colin, - everyone and everything else sucked.
Has anyone read this book? I can't find it listed anywhere googling, just brings up news of the movie.
I thought Amanda Seyfried was going to be filming that other Summit movie, Letters to Juliet, this summer.
I don't know, was Remember Me originally a book? I got my information on the script from Pattinson Anonymous, they have an interview of someone who read it.
Can you imagine how absolutely terrifying it would be to audition with Rob when he already has the part? And he thought auditioning for Twilight was intimidating. Oh my god, I think I'd have to take a sedative.
I cant wait to see Rob spread his wings and show the world what we all know he is capable of....
Good Luck Robert:)
Ha ha yes, didn't Rob say he took 1/4 valium to calm his nerves to audition for Twilight against KS who was already cast?
yep, must be utterly terrifying... and yet... I'm thinking of sending my CV :)
(on the off chance they're using a kissing/sex scene for the audition... a girl can dream)
Thank God this movie sounds like an intense and not a cheesy love story. I can't wait to see him embrace another character. I cant get enough of this man on screen!!
Oooh its just so exciting!!
Oh my a fully grown and fully natural gorgeous Robert could give a few people heartattacks.
LOL, it just occured to me they have been protecting us from his fully dazzling self, with dorky glasses & hair and clothes - BM Handbook/How to Be; horrid mullets; chalk white make up; always something to stop us fainting from the full blast of him in his too hot state.
Vanity Fair scene got cut = too dangerous to unleash that on the world just then (plus he was hell prettier than Witherspoon & that must have pissed her off), better hide him in a kids movie .
But oh hell it better not be anything like Love Story, I hated that bitch and just wanted her to die when I saw that movie.
Filming, here...in NYC o_O That makes me feel anxious yet utterly ecstatic! Something to be hopeful about this summer. =)
Jeez, he is so beautiful in that pic. The eyes, the hand, the mouth, the jaw... here I go again...
They mentioned "Love Story" ~ and it was too sad. Am I going to watch Rob crying? That will break my heart... Come on, I want to see some Rob´s flesh, ok?
Sophia, he cries in Little Ashes :(
You have to see this utube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awxfGds9hM8
It's lovely bits from all of his movies edited together, just yummy.
Posted on a site I like.

Kespax that vid is adorable thank you!
I hope it isn't sad like "Love Story"! It is a tear jerker!
Kespax - the only film in which they have kept him as "normal" as possible is The Summer House, and they had the foresight to keep that to only 12 minutes long.
They know they have to introduce his perfection to us in increments or we would not survive.
Filming in NY. Hope we can find out where. I would love to see him in person!!!
I am soooo excited for Rob!!! Sounds like this film will make good use of his acting chops.
That said, i am thrilled this will have a wide release. I can see it a gazillion times and get some release myself. ;)
Wow screenplay being written by the same person as "Rachel Getting Married" that should be good! But, honestly where is the time for the shooting to take place? At most 2 month window. But, hopefully the movie will be great! As this is going to be first big Hollywood project after Twilight...
I'm glad that he is finally getting a chance to show us more of his acting chops. Can't wait to see it and the onset pics of him in New York this summer. What a great summer we are going to have viewing this sexy and very hot man.
