Official 'Little Ashes' Website

Film Synopsis:

Madrid in 1922 is a city wavering on the edge of change as traditional values are challenged by the dangerous new influences of jazz, Freud and the avant-garde. Salvador Dalí arrives at university at the age of 18 years old, determined to become a great artist. His bizarre blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism attracts the attention of two of the university’s social elite — Federico García Lorca and Luis Buñuel.
Salvador is absorbed into their decadent group and for a time he, Luis and Federico become a formidable trio, the most ultra-modern group in Madrid. However, as time passes, Salvador feels an increasingly strong pull toward the charismatic Federico — who is oblivious to the attention he is getting from his beautiful writer friend, Magdalena. Finally, in the face of his friends’ preoccupations — and Federico’s growing renown as a poet — Luis sets off for Paris in search of his own artistic success.
Alone in Madrid, Federico struggles against his psyche, tortured by the damning implications of his own religious beliefs and the undeniable voice of his flesh. He is haunted by news of Salvador, who is collaborating on a Surrealist film with Luis and has embarked on an affair with Gala, a married woman.
By 1936 Spain is teetering on the precipice of civil war, and Federico, now a highly acclaimed and controversial playwright, receives an invitation to dinner from Salvador and Gala. But the hosts have a rather unusual agenda and the evening is a disaster. A week later, Salvador is hosting a party when he discovers that Federico has been assassinated in the outbreak of war. The walls of self-denial that surround the artist come crashing down as he realizes, too late, the depth of his love for Federico.

  14. Oooohhhh there is also a new clip on the site that I haven't seen before where Luis introduces himself to Dali and they do some drinking, then Frederico comes in and stares at Dali's painting and has a little moment there. Dammit I want to see what happens when Lorca and Dali meet in the film at University for the first time. To see how they connect on screen and then how that developes later.

    GAH! Im so excited!

  15. People.com article from the London Premiere ;)

    http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20244162,00.html

    Some highlight quotes *sigh*

"I've been known for a little nibble," he told reporters at the London premiere of Twilight.

Despite adoring fans, the single Pattinson, 22, tells PEOPLE he's not actively looking for a girlfriend. "I'm not like prowling around, no!" he laughs.

However his admirers' pickup lines have changed following Twilight's success. "Now it's very different," he said, continuing in a high-pitched falsetto, "It's, 'Oh I'm such a big fan!' "

  16. Goz and Dani---ay, mamis! That banner is to die for....completely eyegasmic. I have not seen How To Be, so, I had better be able to see LA. I think that I may have to bug the local indie theater about this.

Rob looks so muy caliente! I am off to check out the widget.

    BTW, good afternoon, lovelies!

  17. Article about Rob being a fibber (like we didn't know that already!)

According to the source cited by the magazine Robert likes to act modest about his life when he meets girls, but an insider says that it’s all part of his act. "My friend dated Robert for a couple of months in Los Angeles," says the insider. "She liked him a lot, but she believes he lied to her about things he told her when they first met."

According to the report, Pattinson told a story about his upbringing in the suburbs of London. “Robert told her he was poor. He said his dad didn’t have money and used to drive cabs,” claims the insider. According to officials at his former school, Robert, 22, was raised in the wealthy suburb of Barnes, where his father, Richard, imported and sold classic cars and his mother, Claire, worked for a modeling agency.

  18. Betsy---LOL Leave to some ditz from LA to believe that someone as artculate as Rob was raised like some street urchin....seriously, said British boy could sell ketchup popsicles to a woman in white gloves. If I were a single woman, I would be the same!

    ReplyDelete
  19. National Ledger? UK version of National Enquirer? Nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lynn- maybe the hobo clothes sold her on the notion that he was poor - lol!

    For those that have Showtime:

Showtime Networks Inc., the home of such unique programming as Dexter and Californication have bumped up their movie slate by entering into an exclusive output agreement which includes up to forty-two of Summit’s films to be theatrically released between 2008 and 2012 for airing on the network. The agreement includes the studio’s box office hit Twilight and future instalments in the newly-minted franchise.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sounds like a load of bullshit to me. Rob is hot right now and people will start saying all sorts of idiotic things about the guy.

He's probably had some casual encounters in LA that left a few ladies with less than stellar IQs a little burned when he didn't want to marry them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Betsy---Rob's limited wardrobe fits right in with the sloppiness of SoCal folks. I would imagine that Rob's natural charm and supremely good looks would make a woman believe anything. After, seeing his father on Ellen and how Rob speaks of him, I think that the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree....Richard Pattinson looks like he was quite the pick-up artist back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, c'mon Dani...even if it is true...it's fucking hilarious that ppl would believe that. But, if AJ says that this Ledger is a rag, then, it's probably just a rumor.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lynn- I'm sure he put the "Edward Dazzle" on the supposed date that she wasn't paying attention. Richard probably taught him a few tricks!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Betsy---Rob worked his Edward charm and Cedric powers by casting a spell on the poor girl...it would be not be hard at all!

I am picturing Rob cruising around with a wand...LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Gosh where is everyone tonight I was expect ing to come back to the blog and see 100's of posts.
I got sidetracked on the phone and had to get that ironing done coz I'm going to see Mum tomorrow and most of it was her stuff.
Off to look at that new clip ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Kate---hey, it's only 3:05 PM for us on the West Coast...I know that Dani is at work. I am hanging out with my children and admiring all the LA clips, vids and pics.

  29. Im still at work bustin a hot move. TMZ...ahhh that Harvey bastard from that crap site really irks me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry but the National Ledger IS ALL BULLSHIT! They are in with the likes of Star and The Enquirer, so yeah it's just nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I keep forgetting that's it's early over there. It's after 11pm here.
It'll be interesting to see how much coverage LA will get what with "Twilight" being so big and all!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My point exactly AJ.

Like HELLLLLLLO people, get it together and stop believing everything you read, aahhhhh drives me nuts how moronic people are.

Fans jump to conclusions waaaaaaaaaay to much and believe these random douche bag 'reporters' & all the ridiculous stories they write. All these articles do is try to paint Rob in a negative light. They also prowl online picking up any type of rumor with his name attached to it and then RUN with it and create a story to make it seem real. Fans gotta do their research and know what is reliable and what is total manipulated BS. I also wish people would stop copy and pasting these articles all over websites like they are true facts...I swear, anything to cause controversy!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kate---Yanks tend to be prudey and kinda homophobic....Little Ashes will have some very interesting coverage and varied feedback.

Me...I am interested, intrigued and completely turned on!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeap that's how rumours start. It must be so annoying reading something about yourself and knowing that it's not true I don't think I could handle that at all :-}
Was just reading back on comments from earlier today that I missed and there's one from someone called AMy (think she's new) anyway she was at GMTV this morning and said only 8 people were there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. For the record, I didn't believe the article...I just found the situation laughable.

Goz! The banner is a thing of beauty.

    **Good morning all**

  39. I have been talking this movie from the get go! This is where we need to see Rob! This is HIS true venue! Rob needs to do indie films big time! This will showcase his TRUE talent.

We all caught a glimpse in GOF...but we knew there was more under the surface. I am so excited about this movie!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good morning, Tess! How are you, beautiful?

I know! The banner is just exquisite....I want to go for a night time swim for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Tess- for a minute I thought I was in the twilight zone with the "good morning" greeting. It's only 6:00pm here.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Okay...just reading back througth the thread and I have to agree with Lynn that Daddy P looks like he is still quite the charmer!

Could you just imagine opening a convo with Dad P and have him find you extremely charming only to have him turn and say..."Have you met my son?"

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jules---I am so jumping on that train...I was throughly convinced just with Rob's BBC work...BBC movies are way better then American television movies. I am convinced that indie films are Rob's calling.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Right Ladies I'm off to bed it's midnight and I'm knackered after getting up early to see Rob this morning. Not much gets me up that early I can tell you ;-)LOL

See you all tomorrow when there'll probably be loads of comments for me to look through !!!:-)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hello My gorgeous Tess! Loved your e-mails! Sorry, I just had to gloat just a little.....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jules---you know that Richard has got game....take a looksey at Clare! I would imagine that Daddy P is the kind of man that is known to pinch a few arses when inebriated. He just looks randy! Rob must have been learning all this from an early age!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lynn...I want to see that man constantly challenge himself. He has claimed that he likes to play damaged, broken people.

I hope the studios don't try to strong arm him into doing some big "have a gun in his hand" thing to quote Rolling Stone.

If Rob does, it better be in something just a little off kilter and very emotionally raw....

    ReplyDelete
  48. I read an LA post on Perez last night (his banner comment was hysterical, something about longer, and uncut) Some of the comments were so homophobic I wanted to cyber slap a few people.

I'm sure you can imagine how ignorant people can be. I am so looking forward to seeing this movie, I can taste It. The acting looks phenomenal.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good night, Kate! Olive juice and Rob filled dreams to you!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Mama Clare looks like a happy woman! God Bless Daddy P!

You know Rob learned a thing or two from his Pops! He can claim that he's a loner... doesn't have a girlfriend....

Hell, most of my best tumble buddies said the same crap! They could charm you right out of your underwear in 3 seconds....

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Jules I'm now going to bed with Rob charming me out of my underwear !!!!

    Olive juice Ladies

    ReplyDelete
  52. Tess---I think that Californians can be the worst....no matter how open minded West Coast are proclaimed to be...the most homophobic, narrowed minded shit still comes out of the woodwork.

    ReplyDelete
  53. For some reason, I sense a bit of uncertainty around women coming from Rob. I think he'd have to feel very sure of himself (kind of like.. OK. I've so got this one) I imagine a lot of mumbling and feet shuffling.

Not sure HE thinks he's got game..

    ReplyDelete
  54. Girls, i've been reading your blog since a lot of time... and all i can say is "we are completely lost"
    He is heaven... unreacheable :(

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jules---I firmly believe that Rob will do the exact opposite of what Twilight has become just to keep his own universe in line and he should with his immense talent.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anon- We can reach him in here... and dream :)

    ReplyDelete
  57. But that is what makes him so deadly charming Tess....

He's approaching from the anti-Edward stance...he's almost Bella like...

"No one finds me attractive...I'm ordinary...who would want to date me?"

DUH! YOU ARE SO FREAKING GORGEOUS, HUMBLE, INTELLIGENT, SELF DEPRECATING, TERRIBLY DRESSED HOT!

What a challenge to any woman....!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tess----confidence comes with age...I was thinking that his father seems like a confident man and Rob will get there soon without becoming big headed.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Lynn- I feel the same thing.

Rob has been so open in his interviews (resists media training) that I feel I know what he's going to do! Someone just slap me..

    ReplyDelete
  60. Tess---is there any Singapore Twilight premiere information? The cast surely must show Asia some love, right?

    ReplyDelete
  61. OK. so which is your favorite Character that Rob has played so far (I'm laughing as I type this because I've only been able to see bits of most of his roles)

My Vote (to date) Is Arthur, in How to Be. I'm seriously in love with this character.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Lynn- Nope. It's opening here on Dec. 18th, very quietly. They still do not have the soundtrack. I've been haunting the 3 franchises here. I've left my name on 3 lists.. I actually had words with one staff member because they got ONE copy in and sold it to someone without calling me when it came into the store.

Instead of ordering hundreds of copies (like the rest of the western world) they're ordering the piecemeal. ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Can't you get the soundtrack from iTunes Tess?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would have to pick Daniel Gale, because, Daniel was the guy that you might have unknowingly ignored in high school and turned out to be the catch at the reunion. Cute, adorkable and loveable!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm all excited now!! * Hello Dani *

Itunes... NO. They only accept US credit cards.. I would download it, but I really want the actual CD in my collection as well.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Tess, did you never get the soundtrack that i sent you? :(

    Bummer!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Liking my new avatar! He is so freaking hot as Dali...can't wait for this movie!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Tess---you would think that the Asian fan base would be HUGE....I think that should be more hype.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Jules- you sent it to my gmail, and gmail is a beeatch. It didn't work for me. I still have hope that someone from HMV, Gramophone, or that CD Shop will come through for me. If not, I'll pick it up when I'm in Italy.

If I wanted a J-Pop.. I'd have no problem here.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Lynn- Most Asian girls would not go into the Young Adult section to look for a book (which is where they have them displayed) I think most of the hype is driven from the expat base here.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Girl, you just gotta have the soundtrack. My son Josh is listening to it right now on his computer...He loves it!

Everytime I hear Rob, I just have to put the headphones on and crush.....

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ladies...I bid you farewell for a while. I have to take Josh to a cub scout meeting!

Y'all be sure and keep the blog warm now, hear?

Big Texas Sized Kisses to all!
    MWUAH! Jules

    ReplyDelete
  73. Tess---well, that just leaves more for the expats...the Asian women will pick up on it soon...just wait!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Tess babe that sucks. I need to download the score from iTunes soon. I have heard good things about it so far.

And this dude on the Little Ashes board recomended a biography about Dali to me that my local Powells has in stock although the book is out of print this is an enormous used book store and I am going to pick that up tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  75. See you late, Den Mom! Have fun with Josh!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hey all!

If anyone is interested, here is a clearer video of the intro on the Little Ashes site (where Dali and Federico are riding their bikes together). It's very cute, and Rob is wearing - dare I say it - SUSPENDERS!:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk3OcPfH9_o

I honestly think Rob as Dali is going to be pure MAGIC. I'm so excited.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Lyla- Thank you for that. The guitar accompaniment was beautiful. I noticed it much more without the dialog to distract me.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Lyla---thank you for the link! Rob certainly works the suspenders.

I was wondering if it's a guitar or mandolin that's being played? In any case, the music is beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Its called "The Shameful Life of Salvador Dali"

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dani---LOL I just read a review of that book on Amazon! It looks to be the most honest account of Dali.

    ReplyDelete
  81. BRB I have to buy some Sharpies for my budding Dali.

    ReplyDelete
  82. D- You'll have to let me know how it is. There are soooo many biography's on his life.. I wanted to read

The Persistence Of Memory: A Biography Of Dali/ AND / The secret life of Salvador Dali (one of his autobiography's)

    I'm getting whiplash..

    ReplyDelete
  83. I need to sign off. I have a client coming in about an hour, and I need to get my head off of Rob, and more zen... kisses.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Tess I think I am going to get that one too. There is another book that has the letters that Lorca wrote to Dali and visa versa called "Sabastian's Arrows" I think I will get for Christmas. I am on a Dali kick.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Semi off-topic but.. I love last.fm!
