Interview transcription

The wonderful people at http://robertpattinson.org/ transcribed some of the interview. Please pay them a visit so I don't feel so ashamed of copying this stuff :-)

”The life of a vampire, basically, outside of the movie consists of going to different cities around the world and everybody screams and it’s really strange. (Laughs) Everybody knows you’re a vampire and no one really cares and they just wanna scream and say that they love you. It’s great – I mean, I’d recommend being a vampire to anybody.

When asked about his similarities to Edward:
“I’m not that similar, I mean I’m not really similar at all. But I guess when you’re trying to play a part, you try and find the parts of the character that you relate to … I’m not romantic to everyone but I kind of have the whole attitude which Edward has that if you’re going to make an effort with someone it has to be that one person and that’s it. I guess I’m similar to him in that respect.”

“I didn’t read it before the filming, but after the audition I did. And, I mean I tried to read it before the audition, but it did seem kinda too girly for me so I couldn’t really get through it. But when I started playing the role, when I knew I was playing the role, I tried to make it so it wasn’t exactly the same as in the book where he’s just so perfect all the time… Because I don’t think girls really find that attractive anyway. They like people with problems and people who are a little bit more wild, I guess. So I saw things in the book – I saw Edward’s character as being kind of jealous and, especially in the later books, possessive. He’s got a lot of bad points too and I tried to make them more relevant. It’s also something quite interesting, too, about young girls – it helps you understand how young girls really wanna see things, which is very strange.”

Interviewer: You are the chosen one to play Edward, the vampire – that’s a huge responsibility.
Rob: Yeah, I’m terrified – I hope everyone likes the movie, I mean, otherwise I’m going to get killed. There’s a lot of expectations. I think the film will live up to them, though – I hope.
Interviewer: And you feel comfortable…
Rob: Relatively. Sort of, sort of. I mean, I read the script first and then I got little bits from the book after, so it’s kind of expanded. I mean, it’s always hard doing books because everybody’s got their idea. I mean, you just have to ignore that otherwise it’s impossible.

Yes, Rob is a very British boy---you just to buy him a pint and pick his brain. I loved his snarky remark (in the vid interview) about life as a vampire---as anyone could answer that question with a straight face.

Rob's offbeat, British humor came through and he was laughing more then anyone else. Yes, he's honest, thoughtful, charming snd delightfully cheeky.

Im trying to think of all the words I adore how he pronounces, like "naturally" and "vampah". I could rattle off about a thousand. He would have a lovely book on tape voice. Ahh I could get through the Iliad and the Odyssey if he was reading it to me.

Did you guys see the part of the interview where Rob and Kristen answered a question about diversity? And Rob said something along the lines of 'everyone should be accepted...' and then the audience cheered and he replied with a cheeky "Thank you very much" (Elvis style, of course) He was so cute in that part, but I have no idea what the question was or how it related to Twilight at all.

It all gets very confusing when you are listening to a question being asked in Italian, then translated via person sitting next to you and earphones and then answering the question yourself, to have it then again translated to the audience. Gosh it was confusing and I went away feeling a little befuddled.

Okay, thanks Dani. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was a little frustrated and confused by the whole back-and-forth process.

Okay, off to bed. I'm already looking forward to the new photos or videos that tomorrow might bring!

Love all the comments, but I'm still stuck at wondering what it would be like to "Be the one person" he focused all of his effort on..

Suss said...

Me too, Tess. I can't help but wonder how that'd feel. Amazing I bet..

Lyla---good morning! Agreed, Rob enjoyed that interview a lot. He got to put out his cheeky sarcasm, which was well recieved (and possibly lost in translation) by the Italian crowds. He definitely lightened the mood for poor Kristen. The "thank you very much" a la Elvis was adorable!

Tess and Suss---we all wonder that!

I watched a feed of the interview for this, It was painful and didn't seem enjoyable at all for the 3 of them, very confusing with the interpreters and all, Poor Kristen had the least fun I think, Rob is gracious under pressure as always and Catherine is fearless and funny...

And that top pic of him is wonderful, He looks better and better - I thought he might be nose diving so I am relieved...

And I think every female and some males took a mental note when Rob stated his comparable quality to Edward *sigh*

Morning!

"And I have more good news! I just confirmed that I will be talking to RPattz himself Election Day Tuesday. I'd like to devote that Q&A strictly to the best questions I get from you guys, the fans. I won't be able to ask every single one submitted, but rest assured I'll select a most representative bunch. Once again, fire away!"

I've said this before but I love Rob in interviews. His stream of consciousness way of answering questions is so unique. It makes him more memorable than someone who gives rehearsed answers. Even though he seems to get asked basically the same questions over and over, his responses are always fresh and genuine. I love when he rambles.
I happen to think he has a lot more in common with Edward than just that but that's a good similarity. Oh, to be that one person...

True he really can do no wrong when he is just being himself with people, That is unique to Robert because most people present a front when in media spotlight, Rob just puts himself out there with everybody, Like he just has no shame and I Love that, He seems to make those around him more comfortable too, Well everyone other than Kristen, Who I adore but she is not comfortable in the spotlight and I relate to her dry personality but I think it comes off as something else to the media, Rob just listens to what she has to say and doesn't seem put off by her at all, Like he's just used to her and that's cool...
Plus Catherine on one side who is Flamboiant and Out There and Rob on your other side who can do no wrong and you might feel a little intimidation too... Ok I will stop rambling...

I watched the conference and after Rob said that about that one person and after the translation, he said something that he feels guilty, but the audience started to scream and cut him off, than he said "nothing" and let it go. I bet he was going to say something good...some details perhaps on the topic:)

Amy, thanks for the link.

Eva - I know! I was so frustrated that they cut him off during that part. I really wonder what he was going to say...

Good Morning to you, too Lynn! I was uber busy this morning, and didn't get the chance to check in until now, so it's a belated Good Morning.
