It's coming up to that special time of the year again. But this year it's EXTRA special because this year Rob turns the big 3-0!

To honour Rob's 30th birthday the Go Campaign in conjunction with @RobPBirthdayPro have launched their fundraiser which got off to a fantastic start last night with over $3,000 raised already.

The Go Campaign have announced that Rob will be their first ambassador! Fantastic News. So proud of Rob!

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 2, 2015) – Robert Pattinson (The Rover, Life, Twilight Saga), has been named Ambassador for GO Campaign, as announced today by Founder & CEO Scott Fifer. As Ambassador, Pattinson will help raise international awareness of the non-profit organization and support their fundraising endeavors throughout the year.

Pattinson will attend GO Campaign events, introduce GO Campaign to new people and companies interested in learning more, and help to raise the international profile of the organization as they head into their 10th year next year.

GO Campaign improves the lives of orphans and vulnerable children around the world by partnering with local heroes to deliver local solutions. The organization connects donors to high-impact grassroots projects aimed at changing lives and transforming communities; the grassroots organizations provide children and young adults with critical services. GO Campaign supports and raises awareness about the small but highly impactful local organizations that provide shelter, food, clean water, medical care, education, vocational training and income-generating activities. Providing these services and opportunities, GO Campaign helps them build a better future which is a critical part of the solution when it comes to fighting poverty. From East L.A. to East Africa, GO Campaign has impacted over 76,000 children across 20 countries since its inception in 2006.

“I’ve eagerly followed the growing impact GO Campaign has had over the years, on so many children and youth, and I love how tangible and transparent it is. They partner with some remarkable grassroots local heroes who are doing fantastic work but who lack the needed resources, and in places where a little bit of money can go a long way. I’ve been a donor and a supporter, and now I look forward to joining their efforts, so together we can give opportunity to even more kids and young adults across the globe,” stated Pattinson.

Pattinson has been a staunch supporter of the organization for several years, attending their annual galas and providing auctionable items for the annual fundraising efforts. In 2011 he donated a set visit and meet and greet on the set of Twilight: Breaking Dawn that sold for $80,000. Those funds were used to build a center for girls’ education in Cambodia. “It was Rob’s idea to become our ambassador”, stated Fifer, “just as it was his idea to donate the set visit back in 2011. He really believes in what we do, and that’s the most we could ever ask for in an ambassador. We are thrilled to have him get even more involved and help us raise greater awareness as GO Campaign heads into our 10th year of giving opportunity to children around the world.”

Hosted by Ewan McGregor, this year’s annual gala is scheduled for November 12 at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills and will honor Abel Barrera Hernandez, Mexico’s leading human rights activist/educator; Favio Chavez and the Recycled Orchestra from Paraguay who play instruments made out of trash; and Neema Namadamu, a disabled community activist fighting for the rights of girls and women in the Congo. 100% of Gala ticket proceeds fund GO Campaign’s grantmaking for local heroes here at home and around the world.

Here is what our #SharetheGOLove Campaign could help us do …

•Assist the Gatanga Furaha Community Based Organization in Kenya, which cares for 21 orphans. With your contribution, we can help make their orphanage sustainable by helping them launch an income-generating pig farm.
• Purchase computers for young adults with learning disabilities at the Will to Live Center in Vietnam. Our support will fund a job-training program, their street photography, beauty training, graphic design and IT classes for one year!
• Fund the Strategy Center in Colorado, which provides 270 ESL students access to the STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). These students don’t have the resources to excel in STEM, and this program widens their opportunities to get a better education which hopefully lead to better job prospects!

Want to see a couple of the highlights from the many projects that your $100,000 has helped us accomplish in the last 5 years?

• Thanks to you we helped build 2 new houses in Cambodia for at-risk girls. The facility where they used to live was surrounded by dangerous slums, exposed to floods and rampant disease-carrying mice, and not enough money for nutritious meals. Now, the girls have all their needs met during high school, including the opportunity for college scholarships or vocational training once they graduate! The houses were constructed in 2012 and were affectionately dubbed "The Home that Twilight Built".
• You raised thousands of dollars to support the Recycled Orchestra in Paraguay. This grant helped pay the salaries of the music teacher at the school and helped the program expand from 30 kids to 250 kids! And the most inspiring part is that they build their own instruments using recycled materials from the local landfill.

I can't get enough of the reports about Rob at the GO GO Gala for the charity, Go Campaign. They were so appreciative of Rob's contributions and his attendance. It was awesome to also look in our archives and read about the initial announcement for the auction that led to the girls' school in Cambodia. Click HERE and HERE for the flashback posts.

The author of the LA Times article we posted HERE and that will appear in the Nov. 24th print edition, wrote another article about the gala and reaped more praise on Rob and his giving heart. Excerpt (including the photo captions) from Society News LA:

Bravo Robert Pattinson for using your celebrity to help the Go Campaign to give the world’s children a brighter future and by continuing to contribute generously, as recently as the Nov. 14 GO GO Gala, by bidding with enthusiasm at the night’s live auction. 

More than 200 guests – Pattinson included – converged on the Bel-Air Bay Club in the Pacific Palisades for the charity’s annual Gala. Combining ticket and auction sales, the affair raised more than $500,000 to help children in need everywhere by providing them with homes, education, rehabilitation, safety from sex trafficking and more.

Former US Senate aide, attorney and script writer Scott Fifer - whose TV writing credits include two Primetime Emmy broadcasts – said he first launched the charity after traveling to Tanzania and meeting a group of orphans. Through a network of “local heroes,” who understand the needs of their communities, the Go Campaign has since helped more than 41,000 children. The varied projects have included a girls’ school in Siem Reap, Cambodia, funded thanks to Pattinson. 

“I can’t forget what Rob Pattinson did for us that had tremendous impact,” Fifer said from onstage. “Two years ago, Rob generously donated a ‘meet & greet’ on the set of ’Twilight Breaking Dawn’ for our online auction. And so we put it on Charity Buzz (charitybuzz.com) and it sold to a woman in Chicago for $80,000.” After recounting the success of the girls’ home, Fifer added, “So Rob, there are 25 girls in Cambodia who wouldn’t forgive me if I didn’t just say thank you. Thank you for your kindness.” 

So was the meet & greet worth $80,000 to the buyer? Apparently so. In a subsequent conversation, Fifer said that same woman later paid handsomely for an advance screening of the film. Attending the Gala with friends, Pattinson bought himself a cello – made from trash found in a landfill – from the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay, with his bid of $5,600.

You all know that Rob attended the Go Go Gala last week where he bid $5,600 and bought himself a cello, made from trash found in a landfill from the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, Paraguay.



Last night The Go Campaign tweeted and asked Rob fans to help them reach their project goal and match Rob's bid of $5,600

When they tweeted last night the donations stood at $4,700. We know from past experience how fantastic Rob fans are for supporting his favourite charities and you guys once again did not disappoint. Rob fans rallied together and donated to this great cause that is so close to Rob's heart.

When I checked this morning the $5,600 had not only been matched but at the time of writing this post this is how the donations stand .........


In less than 24 hours the project is 71% funded! We've said it before and we'll say it again Rob fans are AMAZING!!!!!

In an area where there is little hope and limited opportunities to imagine a life beyond a town built on a landfill and surrounded by trash, one man is working to make a difference. Using his love of music and the one resource in abundance in Cateura -trash-, he is working to transform the lives of the children and their families. The students in Favio’s music education program and youth orchestra are learning to play Mozart and Beethoven just like music students all over the world, but what makes this program unique is that all the instruments played were created from recycled materials. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to expand their horizons and develop their musical talents, especially in such an environmentally-aware way..........
