Congrats to Robert Pattinson and co! Breaking Dawn Part 2 the most successful Twilight film!
HOLY SMOKES! With a powerful overseas box office, Breaking Dawn Part 2 has surpassed all previous Twilight films to become the most successful!
Excerpts from The Wrap:
The vamps and vampires of “Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2- Part 2” have sunk their fangs into the domestic and global box office, and won’t let go. The franchise finale took in $17.4 million to claim its third consecutive weekend victory in North America, but it has been even more impressive overseas.
...
"Breaking Dawn 2" has now taken in $254.6 overall in the U.S., which is just behind the comparable three-week total of 2009's “New Moon” ($259 million), but ahead of “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn 1," both of which had $251 million after three weeks. However “Breaking Dawn 2” is taking a much bigger bite of the overseas box office. It added $48.9 million this weekend and has grossed $447 million abroad to become the franchise’s biggest foreign earner, passing the $430 million rung up last year by “Breaking Dawn 1.”
With a total of $702 million, "Breaking Dawn 2" will pass "New Moon" ($709 million) to become the franchise's biggest money earner ever at the worldwide box office.
“This will be the biggest “Twilight” movie ever at the box office and the foreign grosses will be the driving force," BoxOffice.com editor-in-chief Phil Contrino told TheWrap. “These franchise films build and build overseas, and then they explode.”
Lionsgate’s head of domestic distribution Richie Fay said he isn’t surprised by the foreign success.
“You could see it coming,” he told TheWrap. “The last one, ‘Breaking Dawn 1,’ did 60 percent of its business overseas and we were confident we could build on that.” "Breaking Dawn 2" opened internationally at the same time as it did in North America, and Fay said the overseas marketing strategy played up the international aspects of the film.
The only wide opener set for next weekend in the U.S. is FilmDistrict’s “Playing for Keeps,” so "Breaking Dawn 2" could stay on top until Dec. 14, when Warner Bros. rolls out its blockbuster “The Hobbit.”

Good morning all!
I think that a big part of the BD2 success is due to the internet and to the way it has managed to connect the world. It helped us, who live overseas, to feel part of this "crazyness".
As we already know, Robsession is a worldwide phenomenon...
i think it is because it is the last one and people don't want to missit
good morning to you too Stella!
yeah, definitely. i guess it's a mixture. the internet that made us all connect and the fact that it is the last movie of the series. the last change.
Really good news..........always good to go out on a high :)
very good, now i'm hoping (even if i don't believe in it) they make something good with the money. donate more then they usually do, support art movies,..well, my imagination runs away with me.
Can somone please explain me the Governors Awards? I heard Kristen was there. Is it for all possible Oscar nominees this year? Does it mean Rob has no chance whatsoever for a nomination? It#s not that i believed in it, but i still could hope because he did a hell of a job.
I left the theater on a high too....very good i tell you!
Congratulations Rob and company! This is huge and well deserved I've seen it five times already and plan to go to see it many more times. I love it.
Hoping he gets nominated for Cosmopolis. He was great on that movie as usual.
Love the banner! Good morning!
It deserves all the success. The movie is really great. I loved and enjoyed it immensely. Bill Condon, Rob, Kristen, Taylor et al really did a great job.
Yep every time :-)
OT how is your xmas video coming along
Yep, that's surely one reason, but that only explains why BD2 makes more money than the previous movies both in the US and overseas. I'm also talking about the fact that BD1 made 60% of it's grosses overseas and BD2 has so far made 64%. That's why I'm saying that internet helped in the overseas acceptance of the film, but that's just the way I see things, I'm not an expert or anything LOL
Hello, Mizz!
Those videos you've made the other day were excellent!
Why are the oversea gains increasing and the domestic gains not? The US money makers are only interested in domestic gains and so THG is still the winner for them :(((((
I'm from overseas and I'll watch BD2 until it'll be taken away from my theatre.
Thanks alot. glad you had fun with them. :-)
mmm, not really. was busy on the blog yesterday. had much fun the lunatics....hope you still work on yours too! no excuses!
It was fun LOL :-D
Nearly finished just keep fiddling with it !! I am going to submit eventually :-)
Been missin' you! Good to see you, Nery. :-)
Morning, everyone! I am doing my best to keep adding to those totals. Once again my daughter refused to take me (she knew I'd already seen it) but her neighbor and I went and saw it I am at 2 I know shabby but Having your car burn up puts a cramp in things, but the gil I went with has seen it 8 times now.
That's so great! Take that, all of you A-holes that said it was over a long time ago and that this one was gonna flop because of certain events.
overseas success is as important as domestic...i dont mind what they say about thg being the box office winner. I guess they're trying to build up THG. If they say THG is more successful than Twilight people will come and see the movie. I guess that's the logic behind that.
I forgot to add the soundtrack's really awesome..Love all the songs!
I get it, but what is the reason for the overseas success? What is different to the other movies? Why is the overseas success increasing with every movie and the US is decreasing? I really hope that the US box office for BD2 will be higher than New Moon.
Maybe the economic situation in the US has influenced ticket sales? Or maybe the audience got bored by same type of films offered to them? It's hard to figure out. The fact is that France was leader in ticket sales last year
*chimes* good morning everyone! my best friends brother is a HUGE fan of the Lord of The Rings and he will definitly be going too see the Hobbit i want too see Le' Miz that comes out December 25th I saw the trailor I saw the play twice and I loved it and I want too see the movie and I knew that BD2 would clean up *BIG smile*

I am sad that it is ending but I am thrilled that Rob is going too be really busy in 2013 and I am very committed too whatever the cast memebers do wether it is a movie or tv I am there for always :)
wow you already made them I have too see them :)

I did too but with tears in my eyes I will miss the hell out of these charaters but I do have the books and the movies too keep me going :D

I am looking forward too seeing it!
I hope too see it at least a couple of more times so far I have seen it six times :P
Thank You......it's the first one I've made so don't expect too much lol.....but it's done and uploaded :-) !!
I think it was bigger in the USA in the beginning than it was here in Europe where it has progressively got more fans as each movie came out, I never saw the first 3 at the cinema !!!
the second(sequel) too THG comes out November 22nd if you know anyone who is a fan and I agree I don't mind either it's time(*don't kill me*) to hand the spot light over too Hunger Games now and I know next summer will be the MTV movie awards but will Rob be there it depends on when he goes too( I don't EVEN want too say it!) Iraq too film that movie Mission Blacklist....
oh hon I bet the farm that BD2 will out do New Moon and the others as well wait and see :)
oh me too love it also <3
well said sista friend! it's time too hand those A-holes some "crow"
I have seen it six times hopefully I can see it eight times and tie with Eclipse hee heee

Hi, I'm always lurking but sometimes to busy to comment. Thank you for missing me.
Hi Nery! hows your mother and the new grandbaby? good I hope :)
your welcome! and I will check it out woo i bet it's good!
*high 5*! awesome! oh I shall!
*happy dances* along with ya!*
Same here. I was never really into musicals much- saw Wicked, and Hairspray (the movie) that's about as far as it went. I saw the Les Miserables trailer and my reaction was * . *! It looks like it's going to be amazing!:) Cast sounds fantastic!
Don't kill me New Moon fans, but I don't understand why that one was so popular. I thought BDP2 was the best and my personal favorite. Just my opinion.
I agree, I think it's time as well. And he really better not be going over there! Has anything been confirmed yet?
@google-5277449db0da8a5fd9ce4c6fed76abbb:disqus I don't think it will ever get as big as Twilight, though. But from what I have read the logic is... Twilight fans will need something to "sink their teeth into" after Breaking Dawn Part 2 is officially over, and they are banking on the idea that Catching Fire will be it (especially, since it's the best of the series. haha just my opinion. Mockingjay is pretty intense as well).
That's a great gift idea~!
I believe that the BD 2 will stay at the top of the box office for the sole reason that it's a great movie. What a great and big way to say goodbye to the saga. *sniffs*
I agree Chloe that is so true and as Alice says: "It's Time" and my nephew want's too read the books and I will get them for him and too Y Muri too answer your question: unless I'm wrong, I think it's pretty much has been confirmed that yeah he will be going too Iraq too do the film AGAIN let me stress unless I am wrong and GOD i hope I am!
my bff is a huge broadway fan and she saw Wicked three times and see saw RENT in NYC and she saw Phantom(of the Opera) in SF twice and I saw both CATS and Le Miz I saw CATS only one time LOVED it and yeah the cast really does sound very amazing indeed! for Le Miz it is going to be awesome Anne Hathaway can actually sing she is so GOOD at singing as for the book of Wicked I never read the book my sister did and she loved it there is a sequel too Wicked and again I tried too read the book of Wicked and could not get into it I don't know why LOL
oh it sure is a perfect for her she will love it she's like us she is a huge fan I converted her and she LOVES Billy Burke and have too say the man is so not hard too look at :)
I wasn't even a fan at that time but my guess is it had to be the supervampedup anticipation. After the seeing Robward and the chemistry between E & B, people were so turned on they couldn't wait for the next one. The first movie, and the book also, left you wanting more more more!...I'd bet the lines were longer for NM opening night than the rest, too. It was all about more ROB please!...and still is.
aw that's okay LOL personally I liked the book of New Moon more so than the movie the movie had SO much left out and who do we have too blame MR and SM for allowing her too butcher the script and CW(Chris Weitz) he is a cool guy and everything but at least he tried and that I will give him credit for and I was disappointed in the DVD extras of NM and also BD1 had no deleted sences no extended sences NOTHING now Bill Condon did say that there is going to be an extended version(if I did not misunderstand) of BD2 I WISH there was an extended version of BD1 i want the extended DVD version of Breaking Dawn SO badly and I HOPE it happens I will get it that is for sure
thg's best material by and far, is in the first book, the second one is the weakest and the third is just ok. they better come up with a better screenplay than is offered by the author if they want further success.
you may want to think on that a little more- remembering the basic premise is teens killing other children is not the best. another writer of adult material, like sm, who had it repackaged as young adult fic. by the publisher.
she is dreaming if she thinks otr has an oscar shot. it is a beautifully photographed non-event of a movie. as the book essentially has no plot, the movie has suffered.
cosmopolis is probably too way out there to win anything, but may stand a better chance to be nominated due to the sheer quality of the performances, production values and the direction. i still wouldn't call it entertainment though.
No killing from me Y. my feeling are exactly the same... but in my humble opinion, I think it's because Robert did such an amazing job with Twilight... crappy script and all... we just want to go be and see what they would bring. JMHO
Here! Here!
Three great movie for me too leah... BD2, The Hobbit and Le'Miz....wha a great year ending.
Didn't really like the last book, the ending was not what I was expecting...and in respect to the actors,I don't think Josh Hutcherson is the right person to have played Peeta,it should've been someone taller,he and Jennifer didn't really have the *IT* factor,Liam is great as Gayle.
I agree Leah, but there are more people overseas than in the US,that's my take on it anyway....btw,I know one lady who's seen BD2 coming up 20x....It's such great news though, for them to go out on such a HIGH must be a great feeling and of cousre more money in the bank for Rob,Kristen and Taylor...This should help them with future projects
mizzz,it's a way for people to get to know you,to meet and mingle with members of the academy because they don't always watch every movie that's around come awards season...Not sure why Rob hasn't been mentioned for Cosmopolis, maybe the movie came out too early for awards season, but if not this time,I'm sure he'll be noticed in the near future,we all know he's a phenomenal actor.
The thing that got me Diana, were some of the people on this very site that said they weren't going to watch the movie because of what happened,I wanna know if they did go see the movie?
I wish Rob didnt have to go to Iraq :-( ...That's too far...
nor necessarily too far...after all he is going to Oz for The Rover. just too dangerous as far as I'm concerned! There's sand in other parts of the world...why go to a war torn country? the risk is too great Rob! please don't do this! :/
Oh ABV, I bet they did. I thought I might feel a little weird but it never crossed my mind not to watch it and it turned out I did not had to worry at all because one thing didn't had to do with the other.
right...too risky..He could go to Asia that's closer to australia...at this point of his career I dont think he needs to prove anything. Well I guess he wanted to experience something different
i think they did kiri:-)
I've seen it 9x:-) I still have to beat my BD1 record 12X.
i guess i don't undertand these kind of events. i tried to google it but i'm not cleverer than before. makes sense that they meet and mingle. but now it means to me Rob won't have a chance of an Oscar because I know Kristen was on the list of possible Oscar nominees and Rob not and she attended the event and Rob not....The Oscar is not really important to me but i know it is at least an honor for many. No matter what, Rob is the best! gnite.
aww, don#t be sad. i will miss them too but we get other new great movies with Rob now. :-)
lol i just said the same to you in my other comment. gnite leah :-)
Even an Oscar Nomination opens big doors and lots of respect in the film industry. Rob would soon be in the position to call the shots as to who he wants to work with a choice of terrific parts. It is sad, but having that Starring Oscar Nominee Robert Pattinson attached to a movie can get financing and screen time. Rob has some fantastic directors to work with ahead, so I believe he will be noominated soon.
I watched them all to support Rob! There were people that said they thought about it, but it would be unfair to Rob. I hadn't planned on going to see OTR. But then again why punish Garrett, Sam, Tom, Kurstin, Viggo, etc. Unfortunately these are the decisions people make when they are fans or when people pick who they are routing for because of an emotional link, whether it be Rob/KS or Edward/Bella, etc, etc, It has been that way for years, Bogey/McCall, Roy/Dale, Wayne/O'Hara, etc, etc, There were girls that banned Elvis movies once he got married (my sisters)
The way it used to go, there was a board of governors, or people in charge of the awards. They kick off award season with a fancy luncheon to honor the heads of the companies, Lionsgate, WarnerS, etc. Agents work hard to get there clients jobs as announcers and presentors. The theory is the more the people that help pick the nominees are exposed right before nominations, they will already on minds as canidates. Some actors will try to get 2 big movies released a year. Once in the Spring and once at Christmas right before the nominees are annouced. In other words, not always does the best proformance wins. The studios play the politics every year to get their stars and movies nominated.
It is quite unbelievable that though the economic and financial crisis hits hard in different European countries, BDII had such hig BO numbers.
Oh for sure they did, Kiri. There were many emotional reactions but fortunately it was months away and people had time to digest, to separate actors/characters. For that reason it's a good thing that BDII will be the most successful movie, no discussions about "ruining" the movie.
i agree with you, the leads have proven they have international bankability or at least are recognized as superstars.
D: NOoOoOoOoO!
Oh my gosh, I can't believe I forgot about that one... Phantom of the Opera! I saw the movie. That one was pretty good too! I am jealous that your bff got to see that one twice!
I got a little nerdy and watched one of the on set interviews for Les Miserables and each cast member that had to sing, had to sing every song live while they were filming. All they had as a music cue was was a small ear piece with a piano accompaniment. And I think that's what won me over was their raw talent! Hugh Jackman sang a few keys in the interview and it was quite impressive. Anne's rendition of "I dreamed a dream" seems so different and captivating! Too bad her character doesn't have a longer role. :(
I can't wait to see it!
Well, that makes sense. I could barely handle the book. It was too sad, and I never really was a fan of Jacob (which seems to make up a good part of it, but I haven't read it in a while so I could be wrong) . For the most part all I could think while reading the book was, "When's Edward coming back?!" I think New Moon had pretty good effects but all I could think was " Hurry up and get to the end! I want Edward back!" haha
Good point. CW was pretty a'ight (all right). :)
I know right! I am holding Mr. Condon to it! He had better give us the deleted scenes! and I read and I could have sworn he said that there was going to be an extended version in some interview somewhere. I just hope they don't skimp out on us.
Yes, yes he did. :)
I so agree Twilight was sooooooo great,we all couldn't wait to see NM,but there was so much left out of the book, still enjoyed it,but BD2 is really great also, still TWILIGHT is just up there for me.,of course ROB made it unforgettable .
True that!:)
Yea, wanted more Edward..less wolfpack.
mmm thanks Cathy. Then I think Rob is in their mind anyway and doesn't need to appeart there. Also he was at the luncheon...of course there is a lot to the Oscar i didn't think about, i was more confused about the GA. so complicated. i go back to swooning. ;-)
Hi, my mother is doing much better and the baby is doing great. How is your father doing?
his psa # is steady and not rising. that's good. he's a fighter. guess that's where I get it. :P
I'm glad to hear your mother is on the mend and I'm sure everyone is excited for baby's first Christmas :)
Mizzzzz,I know Rob is a great actor and time is on his side,he's becoming more Respected by the Best Directors,he's getting rave reviews for Cosmopolis and his choice of new projects is very exciting,I have high Hopes for him.
Happy to hear your father is doing better. Hoping this Christmas is a healthy and happy one for us all and very excited for Evelyn's(my grand niece) first.
Evelyn? I love that name. Beautiful :)
and thank you Nery ;D
Unfortunately, the film industry and their awards have lots to do with politics like everything else now a days. The more you are seen sometimes is better than where you were seen. I think Nick and Stephanie are steering him in the right directions.
